Just in – a very special combination of Expensive and Cheap – the Doogee S98 Pro.

Since changing jobs also means giving back the old company phone, the CAT S61, I needed to get something else. Buying a used S61 would be an option, buying a new S62 not so much (still using FLIR sensors – sensor great, software and licensing a disaster), and basically all of their competitors use FLIR as well. With three notable exceptions: (as far as I know!)
* InfiRay PX1 5G
* AGM Glory G1S
* Doogee S98 Pro (similar to the Blackview phones, the “Pro” part is important)

The InfiRay seems to be a phone made by the FLIR competitor itself, so that is an interesting concept – however, they’re not available or even EOL already, and there’s no used market either. […]

Do I rant too much? I probably do.

Is it unfounded? Probably not.

So, I’ve done a slightly insane yet enjoyable trip to Scotland and covered 2000 miles in 8.5 days, thanks to the wonders of free lifetime supercharging on my Tesla. End point of the trip was the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo show on 25th of September, for which getting a single ticket on the desired “7” block was a bit tricky, but worked out in the end. CAT S60 Telekom Single to Dual SIM unlock (#P17)

Short but rambly one for today, as I’m a tad busy at the moment…
As shown previously, I got a blank CAT S60 phone from work, which got a SIM card added just this week, so this is now my official mobile phone. I wouldn’t normally get a company phone despite all of my colleagues being kept on short leash for quite some time. That’s because my stuff is handy and can be replaced entirely when something goes wrong on graveyard shifts or the weekend, whereas the main production machines are one-offs and need to be fixed asap. That’s why the colleagues get a nice phone (and the occasional stand-by duty), and I got a 600×90 work bench that’s more often than not flooded with broken equipment. […]
